A brief History of Science of Mind
In the early 1920’s, Rev. Dr. Ernest Holmes, founder of our Science of Mind teaching, studied the world’s spiritual and wisdom traditions and synthesized the “golden threads” of universal truths into a practical philosophy, faith, and positive way of life. Our teaching is based on the Spiritual Principles, including: Oneness, Love, the Creative Process, and Spiritual Laws like the Law of Attraction. We use Spiritual Principles to improve our own lives and create a better world by employing Spiritual Practices of: Affirmative Prayer, Meditation, Visioning, and Sacred Service. We believe anyone can create a life they love to live by learning to apply these Spiritual Principles and Practices in their lives.
What Science of Mind Africa Offers
Our programs make the teachings of Science of Mind accessible and relevant to people across Africa, helping individuals bring these principles into their everyday lives. We offer free classes, translations of New Thought teachings, youth camps, educational scholarships, and community centers that encourage personal growth, greater awareness, and conscious living.Through these programs, we aim to empower people to discover their inner potential, transform their thinking, and create meaningful change in their lives and communities.
Science of Mind Africa
Change Your Thinking. Change Your Life.
Science of Mind Africa welcomes people from all backgrounds, faiths, cutures, and spiritual paths. We believe that beneath our many different traditions is a universal spiritual truth that can inspire, empower, and transform the way we experience life. Our vision is to contribute to a more conscious, compassionate, and empowered world—one person at a time.We support individuals on their journey of self-discovery, personal empowerment, and conscious living by helping them develop greater awareness, practice gratitude, and make intentional choices about the life they want to create.Through mindful practices, spiritual principles, and practical tools for everyday life, we create opportunities for people to awaken their inner potential, deepen their understanding of themselves, and create meaningful change from the inside out.We believe that our outer experience of life is deeply influenced by our inner world. As we become more conscious of our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and choices, we begin to open the door to new possibilities. When we change the way we think, we change the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us—and ultimately, we change the way we experience Life.
Science of Mind Africa Soulful Thursdays
Join Us This Coming Thursday
Soulful Thursdays is a weekly gathering by Science of Mind Africa that offers a welcoming space to slow down from the noise of everyday life, turn inward, and explore the spiritual dimension of who we are. Rooted in the philosophy of Science of Mind, it rests on the recognition of a Divine Intelligence and Presence within and around all life, and on the idea that we participate in shaping our experience through our thoughts, beliefs, words and actions. Through meditation, reflection, contemplation and prayer, participants discover the stillness and peace already available within them, and examine the beliefs and thought patterns that shape how they see themselves, others and life.
The gatherings go beyond discussing spiritual ideas to making them practical. Conversations on meditation become invitations to build a daily practice, reflections on oneness shape how we treat others, and visioning invites us to ask not “What do I want?” but “What is Life seeking to express through me?” Participants also explore deeper questions about consciousness, immortality and eternity, without any expectation that everyone reach the same conclusion. The atmosphere is conversational, inclusive and free of pressure: no prior knowledge of Science of Mind or meditation is needed, only a willingness to explore.
Ultimately, the purpose of Soulful Thursdays lies in what happens afterwards. It is about carrying greater awareness into Monday morning, responding differently to life’s challenges, choosing love over fear, and remembering our connection with ourselves, one another and the Divine. Each Thursday is an invitation to stop, breathe, listen and reconnect with the deeper truth of who we are.

Spiritual Economics — Eric Butterworth
Spiritual Economics is a book by Eric Butterworth that invites us to transform our perspective on money, wealth, success, and the abundance of life.
Butterworth teaches us that true wealth does not begin with the amount of money we have, but rather with our thoughts and our perspective about money and our ability to create the life we desire.
This book teaches us to move away from thoughts of scarcity, fear, and lack, and begin to recognize that there is spiritual abundance and a wealth of possibilities within us and all around us.
Instead of seeing money as something to be feared or worshipped, we learn to see it as a tool that can be used wisely—for service, growth, and creating a meaningful life.
Eric Butterworth reminds us:
“Wealth begins within before it appears without.”
